Way, way back in 2002 I started my first blog, mamamusings. I posted to it regularly for more than a decade, but then Facebook’s siren song of likes and shares caused me to shift much of my writing into its walled garden, and my blog fell by the wayside.
Over the past year or so, however, as I’ve been sharing examples of how I use generative AI in my day-to-day work (both personal and professional), I’ve realized that I don’t want to keep doing that inside gated communities like Facebook or LinkedIn. I want control over the publishing and distribution of my own content. So here I am, starting up a new blog. It remains to be seen how diligent I’ll be in keeping it up, but I’m tentatively optimistic…
In addition to posting examples and explanations of how I’m using generative AI, I’m also going to use this space to share links to resources–articles, papers, websites, people–that I think are particularly useful. It’s been a while since I played around with WordPress, but my plan is to try to add the “linkblog” in the sidebar, and reserve the main blog area for more detailed writeups of how I’m using things. I’m also going to try to add some integration with Zotero, since I’ve started maintaining an extensive library of articles there.
